Frequently Asked Questions
How long do I need to stay off my asphalt after it has been sealcoated?
Please stay off of the newly sealcoated asphalt for approximately 48 hours.
How long do I need to stay off my newly laid asphalt?
Please stay off of the newly laid asphalt 3-4 days, maybe a day or two longer if it is extremely hot outside.
How long after I sign my proposal can I expect to be scheduled?
This time frame depends completely on the load of work we have, but on the average we schedule residential work within about 2-3 weeks of receiving a signed contract.
When will I be contacted about scheduling work to be done?
Typically you will be contacted a week or two in advance of your scheduled date for asphalt work, and 3-4 days in advance of sealcoat work.
What do I need to do after I receive my proposal/contract?
Review the proposal, if you are satisfied with it, please sign and return the second page. This can be done by mail or fax.
If I have questions on my proposal who do I ask?
First check this page of our web site for FAQ's. If this doesn't answer your question, please call our office. If your question cannot be answered by Penny, John or Kathy, Seth will return your call within 2 business days.
What is resurfacing?
Resurfacing is a top layer of surface fine asphalt, typically 2 1/2 inches thick, that is placed directly on top of the existing asphalt.
Why should I get my driveway sealcoated?
Sealcoating is intended to extend the life of your asphalt. It will not make cracks disappear. Instead, it will help to prevent cracks from
becoming larger. Choosing to sealcoat your asphalt regularly will greatly reduce the amount and size of future cracks. We recommend that you have
your asphalt sealcoated every other year.
How long after I call for and estimate can I expect to wait for a proposal?
Estimates are usually done in Montgomery County on Thursdays and in Frederick County on Fridays. Then the estimate comes back to the
office to be prepared for you. It is then mailed, emailed, or faxed to you by Monday or Tuesday of the following week.
What is your procedure for providing me with an estimate?
Call and give your pertinent information, name, phone number where we can easily reach you, full address, address where work is to be
performed (if different), exactly what you would like done or ask for suggestions. For example: if you don not know whether you need a sealcoat or
a resurface, just ask and we will take a look at it and let you know what would be best for you.) We will look at it and prepare a proposal/contract. It will be mailed, emailed or faxed to you, whichever you request.
What time will the crew arrive to start the work?
This depends completely on where you are on the schedule. Within a day or two of the work being performed, we can usually give you a ballpark estimate on time of day, eg: morning or afternoon. It is nearly impossible to give an exact time.
What do we have to do to prepare the driveway for the work?
Just about nothing. We ask that you have the driveway free of any cars or other large objects that may be difficult for our crews to remove. Also, if you have a garage, please make sure you remove any cars you plan on using in the next few days. Our crew will clear the
driveway of vegetation and small debris.
Do I have to be home while work is being preformed?
No, you do not.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Right now, we except cash, personal checks or bank checks.
Can I choose when my work will be done?
Typically, we choose when the work will be done. However, with that said we are flexible and strive to make our customers happy. We will try to work with you and a date that is best for us both.
Do I have to be home for the estimate?
No, you do not. If you clearly explained what you want to have done when we took your information, you do not need to be home. If you are
having an addition put on, you can mark the area with spray paint, or some times a garden hose is used.
